SuperGel MM003H (INCI Name: PVM/MA Copolymer)

SupergelTM MM003H is the free acid form of copolymer of methylvinyl ether and maleic anhydride, which is widely utilized in pharmaceutical applications for their excellent film-forming properties and high quality bio-adhesive performance. It’s used in toothpastes, mouthwashes as thickener, complexing agent and hydrophilic colloid. The copolymer is water-soluble, giving clear, tacky, solutions with a solution rheology that can be modified by the addition of salts and bases.

--The strong bio-adhesive functionality of SupergelTM MM003H sustains the activity of anti-gingivitis agents and flavors. It also provides longer-acting tartar control in combination with fluoride and pyrophosphates.
--Both neutralized and un-neutralized copolymer solutions exhibit no change in viscosity over a wide range of shear rates.
--The properties of the copolymer are independent of cations in solutions where pH is not increased.
--The viscosity of neutralized SupergelTM MM003H aqueous solutions is affected by the presence of cations, monovalent cations have little effect on the solution rheology, while divalent cations is dependent on copolymer concentration.

Applications: Toothpastes, mouthwash, denture adhesives, spray bandages and etc.

Use Levels: 0.5-3.0%.
